Gallery at Annenberg Community Beach House, Santa Monica, April 1, 9am–4pm
This rotating exhibition program features local artists, artist groups, photographers, and curators and is a great place to discover someone new or celebrate an established favorite.
Artists & Fleas on Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, April 1, 11am–5pm
This is the second location for this popular “artist, designer, and vintage market” held in Venice at the Westminster Avenue Elementary School.
Weekend Concerts at Fisherman’s Village, Marina del Rey, April 1and every Saturday and Sunday through summer, 2pm–5pm
Verdi Requiem Concert, Santa Monica, April 1, 7:30–10:30pm
A different kind of live concert, this is one of the Westside events that offer the unique opportunity to “behold Verdi’s transcendent masterwork of majestic orchestral and choral proportions in a FREE Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra Concert.”
Weekend Brunch Cruises, Marina del Rey, April 1 and every Saturday and Sunday, 11am–2pm
There may be no better way to luxuriate in Westside living than from the deck of a Hornblower cruise for brunch, offered every Saturday and Sunday. Prefer a different time of day? Take a Sunset Cocktail Cruise starting in June.
Santa Monica Airport Antique Market , April 2 and every first and fourth Sunday of the month, Santa Monica
If you’re a fan of flea markets, you probably already know about the Santa Monica Airport Antique Market. Voted one of the best in the country, it attracts interior designers, collectors, and boutique owners looking for furniture, antiques, art, vintage items, jewelry, and rugs. And, it’s dog-friendly!
Odd Market at Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, April 2, May 6, 5pm
This is another of the numerous antique and flea markets on the Westside, and is perfect for those looking for something a little different—or who just want to spend a few fun hours on the Santa Monica Pier. It includes 75 pop-ups including vintage items, hand-made wares, art, music, and food trucks.
Food Truck Bazaar at California Heritage Museum, Santa Monica, April 4 and every Tuesday, 9:30pm
Gourmet food trucks with a rotating schedule every Tuesday night sounds good to us! “Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the Museum lawn, or wander over to The Victorian where you can sit on the patio or hang out in the bar.” Find out what trucks will be featured each week here.
Beach Eats, Marina del Rey, May 4 and every Thursday through September, 5–9pm
If you just can’t get enough of gourmet food truck fare, make sure to come to Marina del Rey’s Mother’s Beach every Thursday for Beach Eats, featuring a variety of great food in a favorite seaside setting just a few minutes’ walk from X67 Lofts, new luxury townhomes in Marina del Rey.
First Fridays, Venice, May 5 and every first Friday of the month, 6–10pm
First Friday are favorite Westside events in Venice that set up right in one of the Westside’s prime hotspots, Abbot Kinney Boulevard. “Every first Friday of the month, Abbot Kinney Blvd transforms into a late-night hub of activity, with stores open late, a delicious array of food trucks and live music and entertainment filling the streets.” Not only can you get a taste for what Westside living is like, but you can also find a great gift, piece of art, or a tasty meal from one of the 40 “A-list trucks” that are are invited to be part of the monthly event.
California Yacht Club’s Sunset Sailing Series Regatta, Marina del Rey, April 19, 6–8pm
Favorite Westside events also include this annual sailing series, a pleasure to watch and can be enjoyed throughout The Marina. For the best viewing, head to Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village, or take one of Hornblower’s Sunset Cocktail Cruises, “which are timed to watch the regattas.”
Spring Fling 2017, Santa Monica, April 22, 11am–4pm
Bergamot Station Arts Center hosts their annual Spring Fling event, celebrating art with 25 gallery exhibitions, live music, and local vendors.
Silicon Beach Film Festival, Los Angeles, April 22–28, Noon
Westside events include this second-annual festival. Held at Howard Hughes Cinemark 18, it’s a week-long celebration of films with back-to-back movies for 12 hours each day.
Cinema at the Edge, Santa Monica, April 27–30, All Day
This L.A. film festival held at Edgemar Center for the Arts includes” four days of screenings, parties, and artist programs that celebrate independent filmmaking.”
Wanderlust 108, Santa Monica Pier, April 29, 7:30am–3:30pm
Described as “the World’s Only Mindful Triathlon,” this event includes a 5K run/walk, outdoor yoga, and a “guided meditation,” plus healthy food for purchase, a live DJ, and craft vendors.
Eat|See|Hear, Santa Monica, May 20, 5:30–11pm
Billed as “L.A.’s Premier Outdoor Movie, Food Truck and Live Music Event Series,” this event takes place from May through September at different So Cal locations. The Grand Budapest Hotel plays on May 20 at the Santa Monica High School Amphitheater.
The Infatuation Presents: EEEEEATSCON, Santa Monica, May 20
They started out in 2009 as “two guys who wanted to help their friends find not only great restaurants, but the right restaurant to suit their needs on a particular evening,” and The Infatuation continues to serve that need. Now, they’re launching their own food festival, EEEEEATSCON, at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. Participating restaurants include Chi Spacca, Eataly, Jon & Vinny’s, and Shake Shack.
Venice Spring Fling 7, Venice, May 20, 11am–7:30pm
Westside events include music, art, literature, and film are on display at this free annual shindig in Venice at Windward Plaza.
Killer Rides Car Show Series, Marina del Rey, May 28, 10am–1pm
Favorite Marina del Rey restaurant Killer Shrimp presents their annual summer car show series with classic cars, hot rods, exotic automobiles, and motorcycles showing off in the parking lot (but don’t forget to come in for their Killer Shrimp, Crab, & Lobster).
Kahanamoku Klassic Marina del Rey, Marina del Rey, June 3, All day
This annual canoe event at Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey is put on by the Southern California Outrigger Racing Association, and is fun to watch (and a great opportunity to enjoy the Marina del Rey scenery), even if you aren’t participating.
